Nigeria TV Info BREAKING: INEC Declares Oyebanji Winner of Ekiti Governorship Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election, securing a second term in office after a landslide victory.
According to the final results announced by the Chief Collation Officer, Professor Adenike Oladiji, Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 40,543 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide, finished third with 12,872 votes.
The APC candidate dominated the election across the state, winning all 16 local government areas and recording a winning margin of more than 278,000 votes over the PDP candidate. The election witnessed the participation of several political parties, with other contestants polling significantly lower figures.
INEC disclosed that 375,778 valid votes were cast, while 6,332 votes were rejected, bringing the total votes cast to 382,109. A total of 384,940 voters were accredited out of 988,251 registered voters in the state.
Following his declaration, Oyebanji thanked the people of Ekiti for renewing their mandate and pledged to continue delivering people-oriented governance. He promised to implement the state's long-term development agenda with courage, humility, and commitment while calling for unity and support from all residents regardless of political affiliation.
